Born and raised in a small town located on the outskirts of the Hudson Valley, NY.

I grew up in a big family, each day was very different from the next, and sometimes it feels like there is a lot I do not remember.

Thankfully my mother keeps boxes and boxes of old photos from before I was born, as the youngest of 4, the amount of photos with me actually *in* them are slim. Despite this, with every photo in those boxes sparks memories and feeling of belonging. From my parents wedding photos; the road trip photos to Illinois back in 1995 when I was just an infant; to my favorite photo of my brother at about 5 years old rioting pure joy with a basketball.

I grew up in a childhood with many fond memories, but also many difficult ones… times when I felt most disconnected from my loved ones, I turned to those boxes of photos and unknowingly found solace in images of the many people I knew and loved fondly, and even those I didn’t recognize.. I imagined what they were like, how we would have spent our time together, and created grand ideas in my head what life would be like if they were still here. Those photos exercised my creative muscles more than any doll or play kitchen ever did.

Sometimes I think those photos saved my life.

Not in the literal sense of the word. But in the "becoming who I was meant to be" way. Some kids read story books before bed to distract themselves from their fear of monsters. I, instead, invented + connected stories with my family's photos. Everyone I was (and still am) connected to are all so very different. Those photos gave me the strong desire to be the most warm, down-to-earth, open minded, + loving individual I could be.. I want all walks of life to feel welcome in my presence. I want everyone to feel understood and … seen. So I decided to become a photographer and do this in the most literal sense of the word.

My becoming a photographer was never about trends or an image. My hope with every candid + intimate + joyful moment I capture is that somewhere down the line, those photos I capture will perform the same purpose for someone else, as my family's photos have done for me .. encouraging individual growth by inspiring feelings of belonging, imagination, creativity + love.

Among all of the staged perfection we see today, I value focusing on the authenticity of the moment as much as possible.
